Scholarships you could be applying for now

In the light of Covid-19, part time jobs for students could well be hard to come by during the next academic year and yet for many students, this is a vital source of additional income. If you are worried you will not have enough money in your pocket next term, why not take the time now to research and apply for scholarships.

Here are some examples of  scholarships which are currently open for applications. Theses are just a selection of examples, but serve to illustrate the breadth of opportunities available and why it is worth you spending some time looking and applying, while your usual social life is on hold.

UKNEST Scholarships
Open to students on any STEM undergraduate course, who are interested in future employment in the Naval Defence Sector. Worth £1,500

RAF Intelligence Bursaries
These bursaries worth £6,000 are offered to students studying a foreign language degree who apply for and are accepted as an Intelligence Analyst (Linguists). You will have the promise of a job on graduation plus a bursary for two years while you study.

Royal Television Society Bursaries
Bursaries of up to £3,000 offered to students who are interested in a career in Television, either in broadcast journalism or technology. Also provides mentoring and networking opportunities to get your foot in the door of the television industry. Deadline extended to July 15th 2020.

Bruce Watt Memorial Scholarship
Open to students from West Sussex who will be studying for an undergraduate or postgraduate course in 2020. This scholarship is worth up to £10,000

Rapid Formations Entrepreneur Scholarship
Open to students who have secured a place on an undergraduate or postgraduate programme, whether full-time or part-time study, at a recognised higher learning institution in the UK; Demonstrable entrepreneurial attitude and leaderships skills; Clear evidence of the need for additional financial support. 20 scholarships worth £500 each.

Akindole Medical Scholarship
UK medical students from a minority ethnic background, who demonstrate academic ability and a track record of giving back to their community. Worth £1,500

The ExpressVPN Future of Privacy Scholarship
Applicants must be currently enrolled in either a high school, undergraduate school, or graduate school located in the United States or in the United Kingdom. You need to submit an essay of 300 – 400 words on the topic given. Worth $5,000.

Funds for Women Graduates
Offers Foundation Grants to help women graduates with their living expenses (not fees) while registered for postgraduate study or research at an approved institution of higher education in Great Britain. Open to UK and International students studying in the UK.

David & Margaret Jones Awards
Open to students under 25 at the time of application, who have a right of residence in the United Kingdom and are studying on a full-time first degree (e.g. B.A, BSc), or full/part-time postgraduate course at a recognised higher education establishment in the UK. Worth £500.
